(Sarah R. Harris)

A native of Riverside, California, Sarah R. Harris is the Founder and Publishing Editor-In-Chief of Save The Date Magazine. Since its inception, Ms. Harris has nurtured and shaped the direction of the calendar publication garnering much support throughout the communities of Greater Los Angeles.

After graduating from Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1985, Sarah attended Scripps College in Claremont, California pursuing an education in Humanities and Fine Arts. Eventually, Sarah discovered her love for computers and graphic designing. Soon she began designing collateral material and coordinating specials events for the NAACP Western Region, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Orange County and the Urban Issues Breakfast Forum of Los Angeles where many diverse speakers such as former Councilman/Assemblyman Mark Ridley-Thomas, Tavis Smiley, Winnie Mandela, Mayor James Hahn, former Speaker of the CA Assembly Antonio Villaraigosa and Congresswoman Barbara Lee.

As an event planner and self-taught graphic designer, Sarah prayed for direction in her life. The combination of the event planning and graphic designing services gave birth to Sarah’s company “Save The Date.”

In the summer of 1999, Sarah began working on the first draft of the quarterly newsletter “Save The Date” that was released in December 1999. The inspiration for “Save The Date” came from her working closely with accomplished event planner and sister, Wendy Gladney of PSP. Through her work with Wendy, she came to have respect for community and leadership and sought to help promote the good works of individuals and institutions that strived tirelessly to make a difference. Since then, Sarah faithfully produced issue after issue continuously increasing its content and circulation. Today, Save The Date Magazine hosts over 100 paid subscribers and more than 20,000 in readership throughout Greater Los Angeles.

Sarah recognizes that it is only through the gift from God that she was able to achieve so much in such a little time—doing so by having insight into the annual planning of special events, designing each issue, and more importantly, building solid relationships with community leaders of Greater Los Angeles that resulted in much support and esteem.

On Thursday, January 9, 2003, Sarah celebrated the beginning of the 4th year in circulation with an “Unveiling” Reception to release the new look for the magazine’s masthead and announce the launching of SaveTheDateCentral.com. Sarah is proud of the progress of both the printed and online publications. She looks forward to adding additional products and services that will enhance the event planning experience.

For over three years, Sarah has enjoys developing and publishing Save The Date Magazine into the Master Minority Events Calendar Magazine for Greater Los Angeles. Sarah uses the magazine as a vehicle to give her testimony of how great God has been in her life as well as to help to promote the good works of responsible citizens of Greater Los Angeles. With all the support and great ideas in the works, Sarah is encouraged by the future of the publication and company as a whole. In recognition of her dedication, Sarah was honored with the Christian Business Network International’s “Angel” Award in October 2002.

Sarah resides in Los Angeles, California with her son, Xavier. She and her son are members of First New Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Dr. Norman S. Johnson, Sr. In her spare time, she enjoys biographies, spending time with her son and talking of the great favor that God has bestowed upon her life.
