7:30 PM
Doors open at 6:30 PM; Program begins 7:30 PM

KCRW presents an exclusive evening with Elvis Mitchell, host of
KCRW’s The Treatment, in conversation with award-winning stage, screen
and TV actor, Laurence Fishburne, as they show select footage from
Elvis’ acclaimed HBO documentaries: The Black List -- stories on race,
struggle, and triumph. Following the screening, Elvis and Laurence
will have an intimate conversation about race, achievement, acting and
modern life.
The acclaimed documentary, The Black List, features interviews with a
diverse collection of people -- from comedian Chris Rock, to political
activist Al Sharpton, to artist Kara Walker to politicians, athletes,
musicians and playwrights. The conversations are engaging and often
surprising. From the childhood inspirations that shaped their
ambitions, to the evolving American landscape they helped define, to
the importance of preserving a unique cultural identity for future
generations, these prominent individuals offer a unique look into the
zeitgeist of African Americans, redefining the traditional pejorative
notion of a black list.
